Use this online speaker and headphone test to find a silent or swapped stereo channel, confirm the active audio output, and explore the audible frequency range of your device.

Set your system volume to a comfortable, moderate level.
Play the left, centre, and right channel checks and confirm each comes from the expected side.

Choose the sound used for the channel check. Each option includes its frequency, so you can use a comfortable midrange tone or another available signal before testing left and right routing.
Plays only through the left side of a stereo output. If you hear it on the right, check cable connections, system balance, Bluetooth channel mapping, or interface routing.
Plays the same signal through both sides. The sound should appear centered between headphones or speakers and should not lean strongly to one side.
Plays only through the right side. Compare its loudness with the left channel to spot a damaged driver, blocked earbud, loose connection, or balance setting.
Play tests one listed frequency through both channels. Start in the midrange, then move lower and higher; do not raise the volume sharply to force an inaudible tone.
Mark each frequency so the page tracks your progress. These are listening notes, not a medical hearing test: the speaker, room, output processing, and your hearing all affect the result.
Select the active tone again or use Stop tone to silence it. Sound follows the output selected by your operating system because many browsers do not expose a reliable speaker picker.
Pure tones can sound louder and harsher than music at the same volume. Start low and raise the level gradually, especially with headphones.
Very low tones need a driver large enough to move air, and hearing above roughly 15 kHz declines naturally with age. Missing either end is common and not necessarily a fault.
The tone is routed to a single channel at a time. If the left check comes out of the right speaker, the cable, the balance setting, or the audio device configuration is reversed.
Hearing sensitivity above about 15 kHz declines with age, and many small speakers do not reproduce those frequencies at all. Missing the top step alone is not a sign of a fault.
Browsers do not reliably let a page pick an output device, so the tone follows whatever output your operating system has selected. Change the output there and play the tone again.
