Audio Recorder guide

Audio Recorder captures a microphone input with the browser MediaRecorder API and keeps the recording in this tab.

Your input is processed in the current browser tab and is not sent to the application server.

Why use this tool?

  • Finish a focused task without installing another app.
  • Adjust the result interactively before you copy, save, or use it.
  • Keep source data and files on this device while you work.

Common use cases

  • Recording a voice memo
  • Capturing a pronunciation sample
  • Making a quick audio note for a project

How to use it

  1. 1

Select Start recording and allow microphone access.

  2. 2

    Pause and resume as needed.

  3. 3

Select Stop when the recording is complete.

  4. 4

Review the playback and download the file.

Recording format

The browser chooses a supported compressed recording format, commonly WebM, OGG, or M4A.

Microphone permission

Microphone access must be allowed for this site. The active input can be changed in browser or system settings.

Safety limits

A recording stops after 30 minutes. Very large encoded recordings are stopped to protect browser memory.

Practical tips for better results

  • Use headphones to prevent speaker audio from feeding back into the microphone.
  • Make a short test recording before an important take.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Audio Recorder upload my input?

No. The work happens locally in the current browser tab. Closing or refreshing the page clears temporary input unless you save the result yourself.

Can results differ in another browser or device?

They can. Browser engines, display settings, hardware capabilities, and supported file formats may affect the final result.
